Playing this game will train the perception of colours and forms and how to recognize proportions. It will go on to stimulate imagination and creativity when you make your own patterns. This is all about simple basic forms like squares, triangles and quadrants in different colours and sizes. 1 or 2 players can play “Formido” in a number of ways: One involves laying out the shapes to copy the patterns in the pattern book. They start with easy ones and gradually get harder. At first the shapes are laid next to each other, and later on top of each other. It’s even more tricky when you’re not just copying the patterns, but making mirror images. 2 people can play together, too. Then one of them lays a pattern in the tray and the other must try to discover what shapes are in the pattern in order to copy it.

Because all the shapes are there in different (matching) sizes, you can do smaller or larger versions of the first pattern. So it’s not just training for perception of colours and shapes but even stimulates a feeling for proportions.
